Hugging Face Dropped a $299 Robot
Hey there, I have got something super exciting to share with you today, especially if you are into AI, and robotics.
Hugging Face, the company you probably know for open-source AI models, just teamed up with French robotics startup Mistral and Open Dynamic Robot Initiative to launch a $299 robot called Reechy Mini.
Yes, that price tag is real, and it’s not a toy.
Fully Open-Source, and Fully Capable

This robot is open-source, modular, and designed for AI research and development. It is the kind of tool that could give small labs, and students the same kind of experimental power that previously only giant tech companies had.
Well, building robots has traditionally been expensive and closed off. You either spend thousands of dollars on proprietary systems or get stuck trying to hack things together. Hugging Face is doing things differently now.
And it is fully equipped with camera, microphones, and speakers for AI powered audio-visial interaction.
It is built for Exploring, Playing, Learning, and Sharing
Also, Reachy Mini helps you to develop, test, deploy, and share real-world AI applications from your desk, using the latest AI models.

My Thought
Honestly, this reminds me of the early PC days. Back then, people laughed at the idea of home computers. Now look where we are.
Robotics has always felt out of reach. This move changes that.
Is this robot going to disrupt the entire industry?
Maybe not overnight.
But it is a strong signal that open hardware and AI are finally coming together in a meaningful, accessible way.
And I’m here for it.
